Bangles have a rich history that dates back thousands of years. They have been worn for cultural, religious, and aesthetic reasons.

Today, bangles are still popular worldwide, often made from metals like gold, silver, and brass, as well as plastic and other modern materials. They remain an important fashion accessory and cultural symbol in many societies.

Their origins can be traced back to ancient civilizations, including those in South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa - made from a wide range of materials from metals, shell, pottery and glass. They often held religious and symbolic meanings and in Egypt were often placed in tombs to accompany the dead to the afterlife.

Bangles have often also been marks of social status and wealth, tokens of affection. They remain important today in many cultures, particularly as part of bridal jewellery and traditional customs.

With their deep-rooted history and cultural significance, bangles continue to be a cherished accessory worldwide. Whether worn for tradition, symbolism, or fashion, their appeal continues.

How to Measure for Bangles

To ensure a perfect fit, follow these steps:

Determine Hand Size: Tightly close your fingers together as if you are about to put on a bangle. Measure around the widest part of your hand using a measuring tape. Make sure you wrap the tape around the thumb knuckle and make sure it is a snug fit, so that it just goes over your hand and won’t be too wide on your wrist. This measurement is the circumference of the bangle size you will need.

Diameter Calculation: Convert the circumference measurement to diameter by dividing the circumference by 3.14 (Pi). This gives you the diameter of the bangle that will fit.

Bangle Size Chart: check the bangle size chart below that correlates diameters with standard bangle sizes (small, medium, large, etc.).

Try It On: If possible, try on a few bangles of the calculated size to ensure comfort and fit or measure a bangle that fits you well.

 Bangle shapes and sizes

Bangle size varies a little depending on the style of bangle - round, oval or cuff. Check the

charts below. Alternatively, if you have a bangle that fits you, measure the internal diameter of this and check it against the size chart.

Diameter is internal edge to edge : circumference is the length right round the inside of the

bangle.

ROUND BANGLES

Small Bangle 19cm circumference, 60mm diameter

Medium Bangle 20.5cm circumference, 65mm diameter

Large Bangle 22.5cm circumference, 70mm diameter

OVAL BANGLES

Small Bangle 19cm circumference 64mm diameter

Medium Bangle 20.5cm circumference, 69mm diameter

Large Bangle 22cm circumference, 77mm diameter

CUFFS

Small Cuff 16cm circumference 55mm diameter

Medium Cuff 17cm circumference 58mm diameter

Large Cuff 18cm circumference 61mm diameter
